wyotes 2006 bull elk, a 6x6 rough score a hair over 300-310
he was one of 5 i seen in a group, took him with one shot of my 300 win mag, took maybe 12 steps before crashing to the ground.

been a great season so far, all i have left is my pheasant hunting, untill i go see snipe sometime in january to do some hog hunting... you might e thinking, what the heck is wyote doing with all this meat, well i have a buddy who has been having trouble with his heart, times are hard for him and his family right now, i gave him half my deer, and now half of this great bull elk...dennis, get better soon bro :P

but for me, its been a dream season, just wished i had more to go after

we have been getting a few every time out, birds are very smart this time of year....this is the last hurrah, after this weekend pheasant hunting is over, unless i do a bird farm trip or two...lol

next days off we are heading south to hook up with the texas gang, do a little hog hunting then that will be the end of this season, been a heck of a year, between pnuemonia, a broken leg, to getting my best ever whitetail, my first bull elk, some great times with old pheasant hunting friends, to meeting some newer friends in texas...what can i say

next year will be even busier, planning a iowa deer hunt (muzzleloader) and a caribou hunt in quebec plus whatever i do here...yup i'll have a hunting widow for sure, but she's all for it, says nows the time, enjoy it, think i'll keep her

well after two fun filled days of shopping for clothes with the wife
we finally hooked up with the texas hunter gang, had some texas style dinner including the peanuts and tossing the shells on the floor...lol

met mrs snipe...the poor gal and snipes spawn (the youngest) and soon to be booted the hell out of the nest...lol then finally TD rolled in so we could eat, along with his pride and joy and slightly got picked on daughter

good thing that texas road house isnt busy on thursdays huh snipe

well after a great meal i get directions to TD's familys land, a great place with stands and feeders abound, had fun chasing a few armidillos around on the golf cart and took a tour for the next days adventure

this is when the heavens decided to end texas's drought, it rained and rained and rain some more, went from a comfy 68 degrees to in the 30's..i was told that it was perfect hog hunting weather
did see a great buck that morning, but no oinkers, no biggie still had fun, that afternoon i took a walk around the place (more my style of hunting ) and yes got soaking wet, but hey, dats my thang ya know

that evening we all went to different stands well snipe and i did, TD decided to soak in the rain (big tough guy that he is ) .... oh wait, why did that cart not pick me up...snipe told me that since TD was cold i had to wait to be picked up in the cold, wet scarey texas chainsaw type woods, wheeeew it worked out okay though

next day and final morning i went out alone, (after waking the texas boys up) and seen several deer and finally a coyote which i popped, but it managed to disapear into the brush, pig food by now, but hated to see it end that way..we said out goodbyes and the wife and i went....yeah shopping some more

then the fun drive home in the ice storn, i swear you texas boys need to stay on your wheels more, seen so many flipped 18 wheelers is wasnt even funny, that highway patrolman didnt look to happy to see me passing him either....lol we made it home around 2:30 this morning after one long drive, was it worth it, heck yes, we had a blast, and hopefully will give er another try soon.....and no i dont want to go shopping anytime soon...never did get my muzzleloader, went into the walmart, and asked about a muzzleloader, they acted like they never heard of one, oh well they have them here
