A few NM Pics

Postby Aggie » Tue Dec 13, 2005 1:15 am

Took a few pics the last couple days of our elk hunt trip in NM, finally got around to gettin em off the camera so thought I would post a few.

Here's one of the water holes in Jim Lewis Canyon, and yes it's frozen. Was 16* most of that day and I think it dropped to about 13 at one point.

Here's the road going into the canyon, we got familiar with most of those ole roads, 350 miles on the Ram just in the mountains alone!! LOL

Took this one at the base of the canyon, you can see where the fires from a few years ago took out one ridge but not the other. Weird stuff and still kinda strange to look at.

This is the view from on top of Waylon Canyon. Several elk were taken in here during the week but they were not hanging around while we were up there.

And finally, how do you know you're not as lost as someone from Texas once was???? When you see this:

Yeah that burnt area is at the bottom of Perk where you can turn and go into Jim Lewis. We actually came over from the other side most times, turn off Agua Chiquita and go up Bear Slide til it forks, left takes you into Perk and straight goes down into Lewis.

That's why I settled here, the place grew on me. Took a good ole boy from Maine and dropped him in New Mexico, now I'm dug in like a tick. Cant keep me out of those mountains.
